A subscription plan defines the fee, duration and classes available to your clients. You can also configure instalments, online booking, session limits, auto-renewal and makeup sessions.
For example, a football academy could offer a Monthly Coaching plan priced at $500 for one month, with a choice of morning or evening classes.
Understand the difference between a plan and a subscription
- Add Client: Create the person’s profile, including their contact and other personal details.
- Add Subscription Plan: Create a package that can be used by multiple clients.
- Add Subscription: Enrol a client using a plan, choosing their classes, dates and applicable fees.
This article covers the plans your business offers to clients. Your business’s own spynPRO software subscription is separate.
Quick steps
- Open New Subscription Plan.
- Enter the title, duration and fee.
- Select the tax treatment and add a description if required.
- Expand Add more details to configure optional settings.
- Select Add to proceed to Link class.
- Select the classes available under the plan.
- Select Save.
Detailed instructions
Step 1: Enter the plan details
Under Basic details, complete the following fields.
Title
Enter a clear name that helps clients and staff identify the package.
Examples:
- Monthly Football Coaching
- Quarterly Beginner Coaching
- 10 Sessions in One Month
Duration
Set how long a subscription using this plan will last. For example, select 1 Month for a monthly coaching package. The duration defines the subscription period. The client’s specific dates are set when adding their subscription.
Fee
Enter the fee for the full plan duration. For example, if a three-month package costs $8,000, enter $8,000.
Tax treatment
Select the appropriate option:
- Tax inclusive: The entered fee includes the applicable tax.
- Tax exclusive: The applicable tax is added to the entered fee.
Description — optional
Describe what clients receive under this plan, such as the coaching offered, session entitlement, special benefits or renewal terms.
Example: Monthly football coaching for beginners. Choose an eligible morning or evening batch and bring your own football kit.
Add more details — optional
Expand Add more details to configure the following options.
Enable payment in installment
Enable this if clients can split the plan fee into multiple payments.
Configure:
- Additional installment fee: Any extra amount charged for paying in instalments. Leave it at zero if there is no additional charge.
- Number of installments: The number of payments.
- Due date for each installment: The time allowed to pay each instalment, calculated from the invoice date.
For example, entering 0 days for the first instalment and 30 days for the second makes them due on the invoice date and 30 days after it, respectively.
Each offset is measured from the invoice date, rather than from the previous instalment’s due date.
When adding a subscription for a client, you can choose full payment or instalments.
Allow online booking
Enable this to let clients purchase the plan through the spyn CONNECT app or page.
Configure the number of classes a client can join when buying the plan online. For example, you could link four eligible classes to the plan but limit each online buyer to one class.
The linked classes define the available choices. The class limit controls how many of those choices an online buyer can select.
Set allowed start dates for online bookings
Enable this if online buyers must start their subscriptions on specified dates.
Choose from:
- Periodic: Restrict start dates to recurring intervals.
- Use default values from settings: Apply the start-date rules configured in Settings.
- Specific date: Restrict the start date to a fixed calendar date.
Enable limited session
Enable this to limit the number of sessions a client can attend during the plan’s validity. Enter the allowance in No. of sessions. For example, a plan could allow 10 sessions within one month.
A class is a group or batch with a schedule. A session is one occurrence of that class. Attending the same class on Monday, Wednesday and Friday counts as three sessions.
Autorenew clients of this plan
Enable this to automatically renew client subscriptions and generate a new invoice according to the renewal rule.
When limited sessions are enabled, choose:
- On day of last session: Renew when the client uses their final session, even if the subscription’s end date is later.
- On plan end date: Renew on the subscription’s end date, even if the client finishes their sessions earlier.
Choose the option that matches your business’s renewal policy. Subscription renewal and payment collection are separate: generating a new invoice does not mean the payment has been received.
Allow makeup sessions
Enable this if clients can receive makeup sessions for missed classes. Set the number of makeup sessions allowed, then choose where clients can take them:

Visibility on spyn CONNECT
Choose who can view the plan:
- Everyone
- Clients of this plan
Visibility controls who can see the plan. Allow online booking controls whether clients can purchase it online.
Label
Select a label to organise the plan into a useful category, such as Beginner, Advanced or Monthly.
Step 2: Link classes to the plan
After reviewing the plan details, select Add to proceed to Link Class To Plan.
Clients purchasing the plan can enrol in the classes you select here.
- Select the classes that should be available under the plan.
- Use Select all if the plan should include every listed class.
- If the required class does not exist, select Add class.
- Select Save to save your class selection.
Use Back to return to the plan details.
Linking a class makes it available under the plan. It does not automatically enrol clients in that class. When adding a subscription, select the classes the client will attend.
Example: Monthly football coaching
Suppose your academy offers morning and evening batches at the same monthly fee.

Create the plan once and link both classes.
When adding a subscription for a player, select Monthly Football Coaching and choose the batch they will attend.
If online booking is enabled, the player can purchase the plan through spyn CONNECT and choose one of the linked classes.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a separate plan for every client?
No. Use the same plan for clients who purchase the same package. Each client has their own subscription.
Can I link multiple classes to one plan?
Yes. Select the classes that should be available under the plan.
Does linking several classes automatically enrol a client in all of them?
No. Linking defines the available classes. The client’s subscription records the classes they actually join.
What is the difference between the class limit and the session limit?
The class limit controls how many classes an online buyer can select.
The session limit controls how many sessions the client can attend during the plan’s validity.
For example, a client might select one class and attend 10 sessions of that class.
How are instalment due dates calculated?
Each instalment’s due date is calculated from the invoice date, using the offset entered for that instalment.
Is there an extra fee for paying in instalments?
Only if you enter an Additional installment fee. Leave it at zero if your business does not charge extra.
Does making a plan visible allow clients to buy it online?
Visibility and online booking are separate settings. Enable Allow online booking to make the plan purchasable through spyn CONNECT.
Does auto-renewal mean the client has paid?
No. Auto-renewal renews the subscription and generates a new invoice. Payment must be tracked separately.
How do I charge a one-time admission fee?
Use a one-time plan for the admission or registration charge, separate from the recurring coaching plan. Or use the item invoice option.
How do I offer trial sessions?
Use a trial plan for trial sessions.
